Half hardened glass TVG:

This is a type of glass which is produced in a similar way as hardened glass ESG. Half hardened glass is made on the basis of ordinary glass (float type) as well as soft and tough coat glass, decorative glass and tinted glass. At the beginning, glass is hardened in the process involving glass heating to temperature of around 625 °C and then cooled slowly with air jet. As far as its characteristics are concerned, TVG glass is somewhere in between ordinary and hardened glass. Its mechanical resistance is lower than in hardened glass ESG, but when broken it shatters into much bigger pieces and thanks to this the risk of falling out of the frame or other mounting is lower. The pieces of glass wedge and block each other which makes them stay in their place.

Half hardened glass should be used everywhere where there is a risk of hurting people e.g. sunroofs, skylights and other glazing.
